What people say about Fernanda

Fernanda's Bartender

"Last summer the Mill City Summer Opera production of Maria de Buenos Aires included an invitation to have local social level tango dancers participate in the opera. That is how I met Fernanda Ghi. And to be honest, I expected that we would be “tango posturing” in the background and shadows. Easy peasy given my neurological and auditory issues.

I was wrong, quite wrong in fact.

Fernanda Ghi is a consummate professional dancer, artist, choreographer and teacher. Her instruction was immediately accurate while accommodating and inspirational. She laughed often. She never displayed anger. And, there wasn’t going to be any “posturing”.

In spite of having a director from the New York Metropolitan Opera to stage Maria de Buenos Aires, Fernanda was the real director. It was amazing to watch. She taught everyone in the opera, including the Director, how to convey each moment. Piazzolla’s music and poetry became understandable to me.

Fernanda made us actors as whores, lechers, revelers, friends, mourners and psychiatric patients. I was Fernanda Ghi’s bartender.

This September, Fernanda is coming back to the Twin Cities for the benefit of our tango."

Mark Jefferis / Tango Social Dancer / Minneapolis

"Fernanda Ghi embodies all the best qualities of the tango. Her dancing is passionate, intense and full of emotion. As a teacher she is approachable and helpful. Her easy laughter and warm personality makes her students comfortable. Highly recommended!"

Bruce Abas / Actor, Dancer, Dance Instructor / Four Seasons Dance Studio

"Besides being innately intelligent, magnetically charming, and—oh yeah—and amazing dancer, Fernanda has an excellent way of bringing out the best in the people with whom she works. Even though my wife and I had never had any experience with Argentine Tango, Fernanda coaxed the movement and flavor of the tango out of us and made it enjoyable the whole time."

Brian Sostek / Performer / Brian and his wife Megan were principal dancers at Maria de Buenos Aires, Minneapolis / Sossy Mechanics
